Price Utah
This mining town located southeast of Salt Lake City became home to a
Rembrandt 200 when it was discovered that the architects who designed the new Ascension/St. Matthews Church hadn't included an organ in their plans. This was a major issue for Pastor Courtney Schucker,
who had been a church organist for 17 years before hearing the call to the ministry. The organ in question was a demonstrator that happened to be available, but the sanctuary wasn't even close to being finished, and the congregation was holding its services in an abandoned Catholic
school while the new sanctuary was being finished. The organ was delivered to the school and was used for services there until being relocated for the big weekend of the grand opening and inaugural service
almost a year later. The new sanctuary has beautiful acoustics
for music, and the sound of the new organ inspired everyone who attended the inaugural service. Everyone except, that is, Johannus L.A. rep Jim Raycroft, who ended up in the hospital in Price for 2 days with an
infection in the left leg and missed the proceedings entirely. Fortunately, the organ was installed before he went to the hospital, so the services went on without a hitch and the new church opened its doors
with a bang.
