The New Factory is Open!
The new factory building was
completed and opened in the last week of June, just in time for summer.
The idea of the new building did not appear out of the blue, of course. The first reason was an obvious one. Johannus is expanding so fast that the present building no longer met our needs.
Originally we considered building an extension at the present location. But, the great success of Monarke, as well as the constantly rising sales of Johannus organs, expansion would have been simply too limited
. So we opted in favour of a new building.
There was another reason as well: It
has been a wish of the management for some time to have a building designed that would have the same aura as our organs.
A considerable time before the first construction drawings originated, dozens of sketches had been made by Mr. Van de Weerd. They were reflections of all kinds of monumental buildings he had visited through
the years. In this way the originally vague plans developed into a remarkable building; a building traditional in design with a distinguished aura. Its architecture goes back to the period 1880-1910. A time, when
building 'beautifully' was the norm, instead of the exception.
The showpiece of the new building is
the concert hall. Fabulous wooden stairs take you to an ambience, which would suit a concert hall in any large city. The stylish chandeliers, the magnificently stylized balcony, the
stained-glass windows, but also the glorious design of the concert organ with a separate antiphonal section at the rear of the hall will enchant the visitor. At last the Johannus organ has found a worthy home.
